Year 6 Transition Days Monday - Wednesday Inclusive
We are delighted to share details of our upcoming Year 6 Transition Days, an important and exciting part of your child’s journey into Team Tavi.
These transition days will take place at Tavistock College from Monday 29th June to Wednesday 1st July and are designed to help every student feel confident, welcomed, and ready for the move to secondary school.
During the Transition Days, students will have the opportunity to:
Become familiar with the College siteMeet their tutor and key members of staff
Make new friendships
Experience a range of lessons
Learn the routines and expectations of College life
Meet members of our Student Ambassador Team

✨ Key Information for Families
Timings of the Day
Students are expected to make their own way to the College each day.
Arrival: Students will be welcomed onto site from 8:45am, with the day beginning at 9:00am. Families may drop students off at the school gate at the front of the school.Finish: Students will be dismissed at 2:50pm, allowing collection before the main school day ends. Students who are being collected will need to be met in the Primary School Field (next to the main College car park.)
To help ensure a safe and calm start and end to the day, we kindly ask families to park in local Tavistock town car parks and walk to the College site. The College car park will be extremely busy with school transport, and there will be no space for parking, waiting, or drop-offs on site.
👕 What to Wear and Bring
Tavistock College uniform is not required. Students must wear their primary school uniform. (For home-educated students, there is no uniform requirement.)We strongly recommend students wear trainers, as they will be active throughout the day.
Please ensure students bring:
A refillable water bottle (essential)
Suncream, if required
Basic stationery such as a pen and pencil
A packed lunch
Water bottles can be refilled at the College water stations.
🍎 Food and Drink
As students are not yet on our catering system, please provide a packed lunch each day.
Students will have opportunities to eat at break and / or lunchtimeIf your child receives Free School Meals and would require a lunch to be provided, please let us know via the information form below
Tavistock College is a nut-free school. Please do not send any food items containing nuts onto the school site.

To help us ensure that these three days run smoothly and so that we can best support your child, we ask all families to complete the short Microsoft Form below. This will allow you to share:

🎉 Transition Celebration Evening
To mark the end of the Transition Days, we are pleased to invite students and their families to our Year 6 Transition Celebration Evening on Wednesday 1st July, 4:00pm–7:00pm.
This event will include opportunities to:
Meet the TutorMeeting your child’s tutor at the start of Year 7 helps build a strong home–school partnership, supports a smooth transition, and provides you with a key contact for the year ahead.
College Life Carousel
Learn more about teaching and learning, behaviour, routines, expectations, and life at Tavistock College, helping families feel informed, reassured, and confident.
PTFA
There will be a stand for families to meet the PTFA and they will also serve teas and coffees during the event. Donations would be welcomed.
